Guidelines for Donating Books

The Friends of the Brentwood Library would like to thank the community for an abundance of book donations. Without these donations, we could not operate our store. Proceeds from our sales benefit programs at the library.

At this time, while we are processing our influx of donations, we will be limiting donations. Book donations are accepted by appointment only. Please call 925-516-5284 or email friends.brentwoodlibrary@yahoo.com. You will be called or emailed with a time/date to bring donations. Please do not leave donations in the book drop, library or book shop bins.

We do not accept: 

  • Books older than 10 years old with the exceptions of classics and children’s books
  • No digital media- audiobooks, DVD’s and CD’s
  • No cookbooks, gardening, self-help or religion/spiritual
  • Textbooks, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Time-Life books

Find Bargains on Children’s Book, Education Materials and other Back-to-School Specials at Sale on July 20

Teachers, parents, and homeschoolers will find bargains galore Saturday, July 2  on a large variety of educational materials, children’s books, and other back-to-school specials at the Friends of the Brentwood Library Educational Supplies/Teachers Pop Up Book Sale. The sale, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be held on the second floor of the Brentwood Library. In addition to the educational materials, other reading favorites, such as adult books, books for young adults, and more, will be available at discounted prices.

There’s a great shopping destination for your kids in downtown Brentwood–the Second Story Book Shop on the second floor of the Brentwood Library. Your little shoppers can browse our selection of great children’s books (most for 50 cents) and other purchases such as puzzles. Bring home the bargain buys in a roomy book bag! The book shop is open whenever the library is open. Your purchases benefit children’s programs at the library and other library programs
